Three Steps on How Best to Compose a Great Research Paper

By : andre 0 Comments

If you’re writing a research paper, it’s important to remember it is an argument, and like all arguments, yours has to be backed up with facts, statistics, and proof. But, there is a right way and wrong way to do this. Doing it the wrong way will nearly always result in a lousy result.

One of the first things you have to do when writing your research paper would be to collect your data, and then organize them in some type of logical sequence or design. A study paper generally focuses on a single research question, and therefore, all your work will revolve around that one question alone. So, as the beginning point, you need to first collect all of your data. Based on your research question, you’ll need to research proper secondary research resources to support and corroborate your research paper. No matter what kind of research paper you are writing, your final decisions and reasoning should be backed up by other people’s thoughts and data, even if they’re somewhat different from your own.

Among the greatest mistakes people make while writing their papers is to start researching and collecting their own information, only to find out the secondary sources don’t support their own claims or conclusions. Because of this, many students conduct research on their thesis, only to discover that secondary sources do not support the conclusions they draw from their first study. Thus, while writing an effective research paper, you have to keep in mind that any secondary research sources should not contradict your most important arguments.

Secondly, you have to ensure that all of your research findings and interpretations are based on past studies and actual truth. This usually means you need ton’t include or indicate opinions just because you believe it makes you even more interesting or more persuasive. The truth that you find are most likely to back up your claims, so avoid including or suggesting remarks, especially if you’re doing this because you want to draw attention to them and make yourself look smart. After all, you are trying to reveal scholars the way your findings and arguments could be applicable to future study, which means you don’t want to risk including anything that might cast a bad image of yourself.

Thirdly, always mention your primary sources correctly. Sometimes editors and scholars will dismiss your sources, citing them at the debut instead. However, as stated earlier, the point of your research paper will be to establish a particular point, and to try it, you have to make sure you quote your sources accurately. What’s more, when writing about previous studies, not mention secondary sources unless they come from reputable sources. Cite all of your sources in their appropriate places, so that scholars may take your research statements seriously. In fact, if you add sources that are not really proven, this may actually hurt your paper, since it shows that you did not take time to read previous research, and you did not pay enough attention to what the primary sources say.

Last, always work on your thesis statement. An excellent, clear thesis statement is one of your main strengths, because this will enable you to easily emphasize your findings and arguments in the paper. When writing your thesis statement, always stick to the version of citing your resources correctly, following the specifics of your own research.
